What it means when your check engine light illuminates

Typically if we see this light up on our dashboard, the check engine warning will have most of us concerned immediately. The good news is it does not necessarily mean a big job, this can be something as simple as a loose gas cap, or it can be an indication of problems with the spark plugs, deteriorating fuel injector O rings, faulty oxygen sensors or it could just be a matter of water being somewhere it is not supposed to be.

It is impossible to diagnose what would be causing this warning light to engage on your own, so if you see a check engine symbol highlighted on your dashboard, contact a service centre as soon as possible.
